DESCRIPTION: Join Oregon Wild to learn more about Oregon's Ancient Forests from staff member and author of the new hiking guide "Oregon's Ancient Forests", Chandra LeGue.
Instructor: Chandra LeGue
Dripping coastal forests of giant Douglas-firs, high desert groves of massive ponderosa pines, and lush mixed conifer forests surrounding jagged Cascade peaks--Oregon's ancient forests are vital to our state's future - for clean water, climate change, wildlife, recreation, and so much more.
Chandra LeGue, Western Oregon Field Coordinator for Oregon Wild, has published just the guide to help you get to know and love these incredible places - "Oregon's Ancient Forests: A Hiking Guide". Come learn about some of the fundamentals of these forests - what makes an ancient forest, what types exist in Oregon, where they are, who manages them, why so few still survive, and what threats they continue to face. Hear about hikes featured in this new book, which covers natural history, human history, flora and fauna, and come away with a better understanding of these complex ecosystems and their extraordinary value.
Plus, $1 from every pint will be donated to Oregon Wild. Make sure you show up by 6:30 to get your seats and ciders early so you don't miss any of the show! For more information go to www.oregonwild.org, email cl@oregonwild.org, or call 541-344-0675.
